2024 OCB Captain's Cup FAQ's
How do I know what category to register for?
It is strongly encouraged that you seek the support of an experienced coach when preparing for a bodybuilding contest. A knowledgeable coach will be able to guide you toward the category that best fits your physique. If you need help finding a coach or would like feedback, email us at Info@CaptainsCup.org
How many categories can I enter?
You can register for one category per competition. Categories for men include: Bodybuilding, Men Physique and Classic Physique. Categories for women include: Bikini, Wellness, Figure and Women’s Physique. For more details regarding each category and their descriptions, please visit OCBOnline. Within each category you are welcome to register for as many divisions as you qualify for. The description for the divisions are below:
Debut- This category is for individuals who have never stepped on any bodybuilding stage before (regardless of the organization).
Novice- This category is for competitors who may have competed before but did not win first place in any category.
Teen- This category is for competitors aged 16-19.
Masters- This category is for an individual who is the listed age or older. For example, Bikini Masters 35+ would be for women aged 35 or older.
Heroes- Military, first responders, law enforcement, teachers and medical professionals
Open- This category is for any athlete in that division regardless of age or competition history.
Why do some divisions have different classes?
In most competitions, several competitors enter “open” classes. In an effort to ensure each competitor is judged fairly, the promoter has the right to create smaller classes within the division. Most of the time, the division is based on the height of the registered competitors. Competitors do not register for or choose which class they will be in.
What does “Pro Qualifier” mean?
Competing in amature shows such as the OCB Captain’s Cup gives competitors an opportunity to win in categories that will qualify them to compete in OCB professional competitions that reward cash prizes. Categories reach “pro qualifier” status based on the criteria below:
Women’s Figure- 5 competiors
Women’s Physique- 3
Bikini- 5
Wellness- 5
Men’s Bodybuilding- 3
Men’s Classic Physique- 5
Men’s Physique- 5
All Master’s Divisions- 3
How do I know what supplements are allowed?
All OCB sanctioned events follow the WADA regulations when it comes to supplements and performing enhancing drugs. As a competitor, it is your responsibility to be familiar with the rules and regulations. You are strongly encouraged to visit the OCB website for other pertinent information.
What happens when I “win my pro card?”
After you win first place in your “pro qualifying” class in an amature show, you will immediately be taken to provide a urine sample. That sample will be sent off for testing and you will receive results approximately four weeks later. Once the urinalysis confirms that you’ve not taken any of the banned substances, then you will receive notification from OCB. At that point, you are eligible to upgrade your OCB membership to the professional level and compete in professional shows with cash pay outs!
What is your backstage policy?
We allow ONE coach or assistant backstage per athlete. Only registered competitors are eligible to purchase backstage passes. This decision has been made with the athlete’s safety and comfort in mind. Youth competitors are required to have a guardian backstage with them and do not have to purchase a pass for that guardian.
